The morning expedition was a zodiac tour around the Enterprise Islands. Since it was windy and a bit gray, we decided to stay aboard and relax.

After lunch the ship moved to Cuverville Island which is home to the largest Gentoo Penguin colony. We took a zodiac ashore, where we were greeted by the strongest smell of penguin we experienced on the entire trip. Wow. We walked along the beach around the island to the end of the trail, busy little penguins all around.

At the end of the trail we were looking down over the main portion of the colony. The sun was shining, there was ice in the bay and the penguins were everywhere, such fun! We sat for over an hour, just watching and listening. One of our naturalists, Stefan Lundgren, was hanging out with us, telling us lots of fun facts about the little honkers.

When they were calling for the final round of zodiacs we reluctantly headed back to the ship. We could sit and watch for days!
