Friday - January 28, 2022Trinidad, CA
Got a (fairly) early start, headed south to Bandon to see the waves and rocks. Headed south along 101 to the Trillium Falls parking lot. Dropped the RV, took the car over the hill to Fern Canyon. Had the place to ourselves, marveled at the 50 foot walls of ferns. Jason's feet got the most wet. Picked up the RV, headed south to Elk Country RV. Had a great site looking out over a field with a few Elk. Rick made a tasty salad for dinner. Managed to find a working internet source (thanks T-Mobile!) and watched some Below Deck before bed.
Saturday - January 29, 2022Willits, CA
Walked around the campground after breakfast. Rick was looking for mushrooms (a new interest?) and Alex was seeking birds. Packed up and headed south to Crescent City. Drove around the bay, then dropped off the rental car. After a quick drive around the cute downtown, we headed south again. Took a detour through part of the Avenue of the Giants, so beautiful. Stopped in Leggat for lunch at a cute little restaurant, The Peg House, with outdoor seating and live music. Exited the redwoods and headed in to Willits for the night at Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort. Went for a walk around the property, saw some miniature horses grazing in a field. Had Chinese food delivered (it was just ok). Looked at some of Rick's magical mushroom images and then watched some TV before bed.
Sunday - January 30, 2022
Up early, coffee and breakfast, packed everything up. Ran out of water (oops!) and the spickets outside were frozen! Doh! Headed south back to Oakley. Emptied the RV, transferred gear, headed to SF. Home around 1pm.
