Up early, packed, breakfast, cab to airport. Two and a half hours to London. Took the Heathrow Express to Paddington (though it took an hour due to track work), then a cab to the hotel. Some sort of ceremony going on at Buckingham Palace. Checked into the Saint Martins Lane Hotel. After two bad rooms (first had no A/C, second was very smoky), they ended up upgrading us to a fantastic corner suite on the 5th floor. The London Eye was visible out the window.

Showered and headed to the tube to go have dinner with our friend Julia (near Kew gardens). Had a drink at a sidewalk cafe, then walked to a nice French restaurant for a fun dinner. Made our way back to the hotel and then to bed.
