Wednesday July 11 - Friday July 13, 2007

Our limo picked us up at 4:30pm for the ride to SFO. We knew the driver, Steve, from several other rides to the airport. As we were headed down the street he told us he had googled Rändy and seen our website. Then he turned and did an Yvonka! Too funny! At the airport we checked in quickly and waited in the lounge for a bit. On board we had dinner, watched "Disturbia" and then settled in for about 6 hours of sleep. Breakfast was served just before landing in London. After a 4 hour layover and another 2.5 hour flight, we arrived in Stockholm. Took the Arlanda Express into the city center, then a quick cab ride to our hotel, the Hilton Slussen. Had a nice room at the end of the building, overlooking the locks that the area is named for.

    • Walking around Sodermalm

      Friday morning we woke up early and wandered around a bit for a bite to eat. It was very gray out and raining, so we bought a couple of umbrellas. At 10am we met our friend Nils in the hotel lobby. The three of us walked down the street for some breakfast and were happy to see that it had stopped raining.

              Walked over to the center island, saw the Royal Palace, went in to a few churches. Walked down the "Queens Way". Went through the National Museum, the exhibit was: Swedish design through the years. Had lunch at a small cafe. Walked over to the train station to get our tickets for Monday, then bought some marine charts for boating on Saturday (which we never ended up needing...)

                      Took the subway back to the hotel. Rïck took a nap, Rändy and Nils went back out to find Nils a jacket for boating the next day.

                            The three of us had dinner at the hotel, looking out over the water. Afterwards we walked over the bridge and met four of Nils' friends. The Outdoor club we met at was a bit loud, so we all walked down to an Irish Pub (it was like a labyrinth inside). Rändy ordered a cosmo, which caused some commotion, with it being an Irish Pub and all (!). So for the next round Nils ordered 7 cosmos, just to mess with them! The bar staff was not happy with us, but we didn't care. Afterwards we walked back to the hotel and went to bed.
