Tuesday - June 25, 2024Yreka

Loaded the car and headed to Antioch at 8am. Got the RV ready and drove north to Safeway in Fairfield for initial groceries. Headed north on I-5, brief stop for lunch, arrived at Yreka RV Park around 4pm. Set up camp and then had a glass of wine. Watched the final episode of Dark Matter, so good! Then it was time for bed.

Wednesday - June 26, 2024Woodland

Up at 6am, had breakfast, then 7:30 and 8:30 zoom workouts with Mickey. Made good time until we got to Portland where traffic was a disaster. Added about an hour to our trip. In Woodland we left the freeway and drove 3 miles to Columbia Riverfront RV. Had a nice site facing the water; saw several big ships sail by. Relaxed for the rest of the day.

Thursday - June 27, 2024Port Angeles

After breakfast we did 8am and 9am workouts, then hit the road. Ran into some rain and then a big traffic backup in Chahalis, lots of logs on the freeway and a bunch of construction. From Olympia we took 101 north towards Port Angeles. Made it to a gas station just in time, we were down to 12 miles of range. Luckily the gas station had a little supermarket, saved us a trip to the store. Drove through Port Angeles to Crescent Beach RV. Had a nice site looking out at the sea. Rick went for a walk and we waited for our friend Uj to arrive; he was driving over from Seattle. He arrived around 7pm. Rick made broccoli soup for everyone, then it was tie for bed.

Friday - June 28, 2024Lake Cowichan

Woke up early at 5:30am. Had coffee and oatmeal, then showered. Packed up the RV and headed to the Port Angeles ferry terminal. Checked in for our ferry ride to Victoria on Vancouver Island. Drove the RV and Uj's car onto the ferry, then went up to the observation lounge. It was a nice clear day for the crossing. Upon arrival we went through immigration, then headed north.

Arrived at the Malahat Skywalk where Rick made lunch for all of us in the RV. Then we did a 10 minute walk on an elevated bridge and then walked up the spiral observation tower. After looking around we took the slide all the way to the bottom, then had some ice cream before walking back to the cars.

Drove about 20 minutes, past Shawnigan Lake to the Kinsol Trestle. It's an old railroad trestle that has been converted for use as part of a trail system. Had fun walking over and around it.

Continued north and west to Lake Cowichan where we checked in to Lakeview Park. Our initial site was basically on a hill, fortunately they had another site available. This one was much closer to level and in a great location. Set up the RV, then relaxed with some wine. Randy and Uj did a walk around the campground; large variety in the type and layout of the campsites. Uj made fantastic nachos and chocolate pudding for dinner, yum! After some chit chat and a bit of TV it was time for bed.

Saturday - June 29, 2024Lake Cowichan

Later breakfast at 7am. Decide to go for a hike so we took the car to try to go to a waterfall. However there were lots of signs saying that the land was all private property. Drove over to Gordon Bay Provincial Park, got some advice from a ranger, then went for a walk in the trees at the Honeymoon Bay Ecologic Reserve.

Did a brief stop in Honeymoon Bay on the way back to camp. Then we hung out in the RV for a while as it had started to rain. Watched the latest Ghost Busters (very cute) then Uj made a tasty panier dish for dinner.
