On the morning of Thursday the 20th we headed for the airport for a short flight to Salt Lake City. Upon arrival we drove about 30 minutes East to Park City. We had a very nice condo right on Main Street, about a block and a half from the town chair lift. Thursday afternoon we walked around a bit, looking at several of the galleries around town. We made reservations for snowmobiling on Saturday, then decided to catch an early dinner at Zoom. Afterwards we went back to the condo and watched some TV.
Friday was to be our big adventure day, with a planned helicopter ski trip. Unfortunately, the winds were too high, so the trip was canceled. Undaunted, we put on our gear and headed over to the town lift. Park City actually has a chair lift which takes you right from Main Street to the mountain. The weather was really nice, mostly sunny with a few clouds, and as long as we stayed away from the top-most peaks, the winds were fine. They have a large number of high-speed 6 passenger chair lifts, which really move a lot of people. We skied until mid-afternoon, then headed back home to rest a bit.

Since we didn't have anything planned for Friday evening, we decided to try out a Murder Mystery Train Ride in the next town, Heber Valley. We arrived at a renovated train station with about 50 other people. At 7pm we noticed some strangely dressed people walking around, and then they started the play. The idea was that we were part of a train ride for a fraternity's ten year reunion. The play was divided into 3 half hour acts, with a half hour train ride out and back in between. They served pizza on the train out, and along the way the actors came through the cars and talked with us. We were supposed to figure out who killed one of the characters by finding clues. It was kind of cheesy, but also a lot of fun, and something we'd never done before. We actually got pretty close to having the right answers! Afterwards we wanted to have a drink and found that Utah's liquor laws are quite silly. Bars are called 'private clubs' and you have to be a member (or join for $5) to drink there. Kind of a silly system.

Saturday morning we got up late and walked around town some more. It had snowed overnight and was still snowing as we walked around. At 2:30 we headed down to Main Street to wait for our shuttle to the snowmobile ride. After waiting 15 minutes, we called them and found out that they had canceled due to bad weather! We quickly called around and found another company willing to take us if we could get there in 10 minutes. We ran back and grabbed the car keys and zipped over to the ranch were they start out. There were five other guys riding with us, and we had lots of fun riding through some rather narrow and at times steep back trails. Definitely an 'E' ticket ride!

Saturday evening we decided to see a movie, and DareDevil was the best thing playing (we thought). It turned out to be quite a bomb of a movie. The best part was Colin Ferrel as a hit-man who really enjoyed his job. Ben Affleck should stay away from super-hero parts!
Sunday morning we had breakfast, packed everything into the rental car, and headed for Salt Lake City. We walked around the Mormon Tabernacle for a bit, then headed West on Highway 80 along the southern edge of the Great Salt Lake. We drove out to the small town of Rowley, which seemed to be entirely composed of a Magnesium plant. Ah, well, the drive was really beautiful, and we even had to honk at a couple of cows to get them out of the road.

Back to the Salt Lake airport we braved the check-in and security lines, boarded our plane, and a short two hours later we were back home.
