Mediterranean Cruise 2011

Such a fun trip! We covered so much ground, saw so many amazing things, attended so many fun parties. The Atlantis cruise was amazing, a great mix of destinations and parties; we liked it so much we already booked a room on next year's Eastern Mediterranean cruise!

Many thanks to Jason and Alex, they were awesome travel buddies, we had so much fun with them. Thanks as well to Pat for coming down to Barcelona for the day and then for hosting us in Belgium; his train and balloon surprises are things we will not soon forget!

Our travel agent, Ken Neibaur of Cardoza Bungey in Palo Alto, did a perfect job of arranging flights, transfers and tours, and his hotel and brunch location recommendations were real high points of the trip!

We took a total of 2600 pictures between the four of us, edited down to about 400 for the website.

We brought our iPhone 4s and our Nikon D300s along. While in Rome we decided the DSLR was too heavy so we bought a Canon Powershot SX232 HS which was small but had a big zoom range and stabilization. It worked well, but we pretty much decided that if the iPhone just had 5x or so of zoom, it would have been the only camera we needed; in many situations we used it exclusively and were very happy with the pictures.

One new app we used was 360 Panorama, an automatic panorama program that allows you to stand in place and just wave the phone around in a circle to automatically stitch together a panorama in less than a minute. Very fun and very easy.
