We arrived at the Hyatt Grand in Poipu around 2pm and settled in to a nice room with an ocean view. Then it was down to the pool where we did some reading and went on the water slide a few times. After a nap we were greeted at our room by our server for the evening who walked us down to a small tent right on the beach with a table facing the ocean. It was a perfect night, with a nice warm breeze blowing lightly. We finished off the night with an episode of Lost and then fell sound asleep.

Sunday we spent most of the day by the pool, with more reading and water-sliding.  Rick had picked up a bit of a cold, so we were taking it easy.  Dinner was at the Tidepools restaurant.

Monday morning we went to breakfast, then grabbed some water bottles and started to walk west along the rocky shoreline towards a cactus garden. It was lots of fun, jumping from lava rock to lava rock, looking into the pools of water left by the surf and down into several blow holes. We saw at least 15 big sea turtles getting pushed around in the surf as they foraged for food. We made it all the way down to the Moir garden by the Sheraton (about 2 miles). Then, when we didn't see anything interesting for lunch, took a cab back to the Hyatt where we had lunch by the pool. After an afternoon nap, we took a cab to The Beachhouse restaurant, a well known local restaurant where most of the tables look out to the ocean with a great view of sunset.

Tuesday morning we were supposed to take a kayak trip, but Rick's cold was not much better and we thought it was best for him to relax. Randy was just as happy, as it gave us more time to just sit by the pool, get a little color (not too much!) and do some reading. That afternoon we watched a bit of Lost, then headed to the Stevenson Library for a tasty sushi dinner.

Wednesday morning we had a lazy breakfast, packed, and then headed to the airport. It had been a great trip, lots of time to just do nothing. We really love Kauai, we'll be back soon!
