Randy has always loved trains. Earlier this year he found a company that does RailFan tours all over the world. A two day tour from Durango, Colorado to Silverton and back again sounded like fun, so we decided to give it a try.
In Durango we stayed at the General Palmer hotel, right next to the train station. We had dinner around the corner from the hotel at a tasty outdoor restaurant.
On Wednesday morning we joined the other 50 or so members of the tour when we boarded the train at the Durango station.
We spent the day traveling to Silverton, with many photo run-bys. At each spot they would drop us off, then back the train up out of view and then run it forward past the group so we could all get pictures.
