We met in the lobby at 6:30am, then headed down to the main restaurant for the wonderful buffet breakfast. The hotel puts out a great spread, with omelets, fresh fruit, pastry and other assorted goodies. Mmmmmm!
Afterwards we drove to Port Allen where we boarded the Leila, a 50' sailing catamaran run by HoloHolo Tours. There were about a dozen other passengers on board with us. Our first stop was to do some snorkeling just outside the harbor. We saw a few fish and a couple of turtles.
After we got back underway we came upon a calm area with a pod of about 40 dolphins. The boat circled around a bit and we watched them playing around the front of the boat. There were even a couple of baby dolphins that kept jumping out of the water and spinning around, it was very fun to watch.
The boat traveled all the way to Waimea Canyon. It was great to get to see if from ground level, having seen it from the air the last time we were in Kauai. Halfway back to the dock the boat stopped and we had lunch, then we returned to port. It had been about 6 hours all together, highly recommended.
We stopped at the botanical gardens on the way back to check out the hours and decided we'd see it the next morning. After dropping JP and Matthew off at the hotel, we headed back towards Lihue to find a memory card for our camera; we'd managed to leave ours back in California. On the way we decided that 4 days was not going to be enough, so we called the airline and hotel to extend our stay by one day.
Later on back at the hotel we met for drinks on the terrace, then headed down to Dondero's for dinner. It was very tasty and we had a great time.
