Thursday, November 17 - We met our friends JP and Matthew at the San Francisco airport where we boarded our United flight for Lihue in Kauai. 6 hours later we were driving West towards the Grand Hyatt hotel on the South shore of the island. After checking in we met at the poolside bar for lunch and the first of many cocktails for the trip. One of the hotel's specialties is a Tai Chi, a variant of a Mai Tai, very tasty.

We lounged by the pool for a while, checked out the hot tub, then went back to the room to rest a bit before dinner. We met on the hotel terrace where we had a cocktail overlooking the ocean. Then we caught a taxi to Roy's restaurant for dinner. The food was good, though the service was a bit slow. Back at the hotel afterwards we watched a bit of TV and then went to sleep.
